Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Solartech Energy Corp (TW:3561), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443) added 10.00% or 25.50 points to end at 280.50 and Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) was up 10.00% or 6.40 points to 70.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd (TW:3406), which lost 9.89% or 40.50 points to trade at 369.00 in late trade. Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) declined 8.10% or 29.00 points to end at 329.00 and Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557) shed 7.20% or 0.950 points to 12.250.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 552 to 220 and 103 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.27% or 0.14 to $51.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.17% or 0.10 to hit $57.72 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.85% or 11.05 to trade at $1291.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 30.205, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 93.37.
