Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Consumer Staples and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Services and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.08%, while the ADX General index added 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 1.34% or 0.040 points to trade at 3.020 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 1.11% or 0.006 points to end at 0.546 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was up 0.56% or 0.003 points to 0.535 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR), which lost 2.63% or 0.180 points to trade at 6.660 in late trade. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) declined 2.01% or 0.030 points to end at 1.460 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 1.89% or 0.020 points to 1.040.
The top performers on the ADX General were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which rose 10.66% to 4.880, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 2.30% to settle at 0.8900 and Buhaira Nat In (AD:ABNI) which gained 2.04% to close at 2.500.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 9.30% to 0.390 in late trade, Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which lost 5.26% to settle at 1.800 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 4.41% to 6.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 9 declined, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 4.00% or 1.58 to $41.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.76% or 1.57 to hit $43.37 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.60% or 8.25 to trade at $1364.35 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.68% to 4.0948.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.51.
