Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food Producers, Financials and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.01% or 0.55 points to trade at 27.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) added 0.61% or 0.46 points to end at 76.06 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.53% or 0.42 points to 80.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 0.79% or 0.23 points to trade at 28.80 at the close. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) declined 0.44% or 0.50 points to end at 112.50 and DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) was down 0.41% or 0.135 points to 32.550.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 88 to 68 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.55% or 5.90 to $1074.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.54% or 0.55 to hit $36.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.03 to trade at $36.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP rose 1.02% to 0.7408.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 98.10.
