Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK), which rose 12.99% or 5.75 points to trade at 50.00 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 4.12% or 32.00 points to end at 809.00 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.83% or 0.915 points to 33.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 3.05% or 7.55 points to trade at 240.00 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 1.73% or 169.0 points to end at 9601.0 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) shed 1.56% or 41.0 points to 2580.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 107 to 106 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.77% to 26.270.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.53% or 7.15 to $1355.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.78% or 1.30 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.91 to trade at $50.76 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.33% to 63.6220, while EUR/RUB rose 0.10% to 72.195.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
