Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Media and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 5.35% or 2.65 points to trade at 52.17 at the close. LPP SA (WA:LPPP) added 4.54% or 224.95 points to end at 5174.95 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 4.12% or 0.110 points to 2.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO), which lost 2.98% or 4.19 points to trade at 136.47 in late trade. Enea SA (WA:ENAE) declined 2.67% or 0.27 points to end at 9.83 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) shed 1.29% or 0.37 points to 28.27.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 290 to 184 and 159 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.78% or 1.33 to $49.18 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 2.78% or 1.37 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.80% or 10.55 to trade at $1328.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.19% to 4.4194, while USD/PLN fell 0.58% to 3.9781.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.77.
