Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which rose 9.96% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.60 at the close. I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) added 9.91% or 1.05 points to end at 11.65 and Aopen (TW:3046) was up 9.83% or 0.51 points to 5.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 5.37% or 0.90 points to trade at 15.85 in late trade. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 4.29% or 0.180 points to end at 4.020 and Mospec (TW:2434) shed 4.20% or 0.25 points to 5.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 418 to 302 and 149 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $53.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $56.01 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.36% or 4.35 to trade at $1195.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.70% to 31.552, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2181.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 101.41.
