Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Media and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.19%, while the MDAX index declined 1.00%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which fell 0.26% or 0.055 points to trade at 21.080 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) fell 0.67% or 0.23 points to end at 34.12 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was down 0.77% or 0.650 points to 83.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 7.54% or 0.860 points to trade at 10.550 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 4.15% or 1.600 points to end at 36.925 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 4.08% or 0.257 points to 6.046.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 8.14% to 52.660, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 3.55% to settle at 39.040 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 1.75% to close at 24.140.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 6.86% to 16.700 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 2.90% to settle at 76.060 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.57% to 30.855 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.36% to 24.550, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 0.39% to settle at 54.160 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 0.25% to close at 15.995.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.03% to 33.715 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 2.53% to settle at 3.692 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.35% to 18.320 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 701 to 178 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 21.54% to 19.04.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.12% or 1.65 to $1343.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.17% or 1.41 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.84% or 1.32 to trade at $47.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1262, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8679.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.12.
