Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 4.92% or 3.74 points to trade at 79.74 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 4.84% or 0.030 points to end at 0.650 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.64% or 0.01 points to 0.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 2.77% or 0.18 points to trade at 6.32 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 2.66% or 1.28 points to end at 45.69 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) shed 2.36% or 19.43 points to 805.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 13 and 53 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.40% or 0.71 to $50.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.16% or 0.61 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1254.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 2.25% to 346.790, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 305.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.85.
