Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad (AS:RAND), which rose 3.44% or 1.65 points to trade at 49.41 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) added 2.27% or 0.525 points to end at 23.680 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 2.23% or 0.29 points to 13.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DSM Kon (AS:DSMN), which lost 1.14% or 0.65 points to trade at 56.31 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 1.01% or 0.048 points to end at 4.723 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.98% or 0.550 points to 55.850.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 86 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.59% to 18.46.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.14% or 1.92 to $48.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 4.37% or 2.05 to hit $48.91 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.65 to trade at $1213.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.0606, while EUR/GBP fell 1.15% to 0.8493.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 101.11.
