Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 5.79% or 7.10 points to trade at 129.80 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.55% or 0.560 points to end at 22.535 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) was up 1.38% or 0.69 points to 50.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 3.43% or 2.290 points to trade at 64.500 in late trade. Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 29.91 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) gained 0.03% or 0.005 points to 15.430.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 32 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.82% to 11.21.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.06% or 0.49 to $46.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.11% or 0.54 to hit $49.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1240.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1519, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8836.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.57.
