Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 1.78% or 0.43 points to trade at 24.57 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 1.67% or 0.25 points to end at 15.27 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.49% or 0.01 points to 0.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 2.78% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.700 in late trade. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 2.35% or 0.13 points to end at 5.41 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 1.77% or 0.020 points to 1.110.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 15 and 56 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.79% or 0.82 to $46.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.59% or 0.77 to hit $49.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.60% or 8.05 to trade at $1355.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.24% to 355.500, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 321.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.85% at 94.77.
