Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.03% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.79% or 1.98 points to trade at 72.91 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 2.09% or 1.10 points to end at 53.83 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.51% or 0.84 points to 56.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.02% or 0.14 points to trade at 13.10 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 0.72% or 0.75 points to end at 103.75 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.71% or 0.270 points to 37.795.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 64 to 42 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.35 to $1265.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $52.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.0877, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.8470.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 99.07.
