Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 9.96% or 62.58 points to trade at 671.20 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 1.05% or 0.15 points to end at 14.50 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 0.89% or 1.15 points to 130.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 4.88% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.800 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 4.12% or 0.55 points to end at 13.24 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) shed 4.04% or 1.17 points to 27.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 15 and 62 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.39% or 0.21 to $53.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $55.85 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1227.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 2.56% to 323.230, while USD/NGN fell 1.18% to 314.750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.66.
