Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electric Power, Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CCR SA (SA:CCRO3), which rose 3.43% or 0.53 points to trade at 15.96 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 3.39% or 0.27 points to end at 8.24 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 3.38% or 1.12 points to 34.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which lost 3.75% or 1.00 points to trade at 25.68 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 2.17% or 0.33 points to end at 14.85 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) shed 1.93% or 0.46 points to 23.34.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.21% to 35.42.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.51% or 5.85 to $1152.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $53.73 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.22% or 1.66 to trade at $137.18 .
USD/BRL was up 0.01% to 3.2548, while EUR/BRL rose 0.37% to 3.4274.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 102.31.
