Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Financial Services, Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.07%, while the MDAX index added 0.07%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 2.11% or 1.440 points to trade at 69.810 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.04% or 0.325 points to end at 16.280 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 1.65% or 0.640 points to 39.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 2.34% or 0.76 points to trade at 31.45 in late trade. Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) declined 2.11% or 2.250 points to end at 104.250 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 1.50% or 0.175 points to 11.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 2.62% to 57.980, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 2.59% to settle at 53.400 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which gained 1.68% to close at 28.180.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 2.90% to 65.900 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 2.54% to settle at 51.105 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 1.59% to 38.745 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.24% to 28.700, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 3.32% to settle at 37.200 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 3.04% to close at 17.820.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 16.59% to 31.20 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 7.67% to settle at 7.340 and Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was down 6.91% to 4.190 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 467 to 405 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.68% to 18.03.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.55 to $1269.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.63% or 0.80 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 0.85 to trade at $50.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.0892, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8951.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 98.94.
