Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Food & Beverages and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.13%, while the MDAX index gained 0.49%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 1.44% or 0.084 points to trade at 5.932 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.34% or 0.860 points to end at 65.200 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) was up 1.31% or 1.010 points to 78.020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which lost 0.72% or 0.105 points to trade at 14.420 in late trade. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 0.50% or 0.400 points to end at 79.470 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) shed 0.47% or 0.430 points to 90.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 6.98% to 39.91, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 32.900 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 1.73% to close at 54.160.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.32% to 29.375 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which lost 1.22% to settle at 34.365 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 1.14% to 28.160 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 1.77% to 9.711, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 1.42% to settle at 8.834 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 1.33% to close at 56.200.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 0.98% to 181.900 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 0.86% to settle at 34.415 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 0.85% to 43.880 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 497 to 379 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.73% to 17.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.62% or 7.85 to $1270.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.94% or 1.48 to hit $51.77 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.44% or 1.26 to trade at $52.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0964, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8937.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.91.
