Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.54%, while the MDAX index gained 0.30%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.21% or 0.320 points to trade at 14.800 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) added 1.90% or 1.480 points to end at 79.260 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.72% or 0.153 points to 9.036 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 1.27% or 0.335 points to trade at 25.950 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 0.95% or 0.125 points to end at 13.085 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.92% or 0.175 points to 18.865.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which rose 3.02% to 54.391, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 2.86% to settle at 18.705 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 1.87% to close at 42.205.
The worst performers were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 6.86% to 45.38 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 1.79% to settle at 26.32 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 1.79% to 85.610 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 4.58% to 21.010, Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which was up 4.16% to settle at 36.290 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which gained 2.31% to close at 6.985.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.53% to 37.610 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 3.31% to settle at 8.400 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 3.05% to 8.263 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 491 to 377 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.33% to 27.12.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.51% or 19.45 to $1272.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.90% or 0.95 to hit $49.01 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 0.98 to trade at $49.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 94.02.
