Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA:VALE5), which rose 8.29% or 0.87 points to trade at 11.37 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 7.78% or 0.43 points to end at 5.96 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 6.59% or 0.93 points to 15.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which lost 5.52% or 1.35 points to trade at 23.10 in late trade. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 4.34% or 0.15 points to end at 3.31 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) shed 4.28% or 1.23 points to 27.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 159 to 120 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 53.71.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.60% or 7.30 to $1216.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.50% or 0.20 to hit $39.59 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 2.58% or 3.38 to trade at $127.67 .
USD/BRL was up 0.06% to 3.6820, while EUR/BRL rose 0.07% to 4.1155.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.17.
