Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which rose 1.56% or 0.0001 points to trade at 0.0064 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA) added 1.23% or 0.0330 points to end at 2.7240 and REN (LISBON:RENE) was up 0.96% or 0.0255 points to 2.6855 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP), which fell 3.10% or 0.3400 points to trade at 10.6300 at the close. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) declined 1.86% or 0.0700 points to end at 3.7010 and Semapa (LISBON:SEM) was down 1.61% or 0.2050 points to 12.4950.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 34 to 30 and 2 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.11% or 0.64 to $56.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.06% or 1.05 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.02% or 11.30 to trade at $1092.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.0888, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.6986.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 97.86.
