Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 2.05% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 10.24% or 4.71 points to trade at 50.71 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 5.56% or 0.050 points to end at 0.950 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 4.98% or 1.02 points to 21.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which lost 4.90% or 36.80 points to trade at 755.00 in late trade. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) declined 0.16% or 0.01 points to end at 6.37 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 4.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 11 and 56 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.52% or 0.26 to $49.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $52.25 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.10% or 14.20 to trade at $1274.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.47% to 341.760, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 99.08.
