Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.80%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.80%, while the MDAX index declined 0.60%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.42%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 1.65% or 1.290 points to trade at 79.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.64% or 2.050 points to end at 127.050 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) was up 1.36% or 0.505 points to 37.625 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 4.50% or 0.400 points to trade at 8.491 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 3.22% or 3.400 points to end at 102.050 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) was down 2.89% or 0.555 points to 18.660.

The top performers on the MDAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which rose 1.87% to 28.27, Osram Licht (F:OSRn) which was up 1.02% to settle at 41.316 and Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (DE:DEQGn) which gained 0.74% to close at 38.790.

The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 5.50% to 28.845 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 4.02% to settle at 45.570 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which was down 3.21% to 7.789 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 7.25% to 87.000, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 2.69% to settle at 46.545 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 1.16% to close at 35.435.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.85% to 37.055 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.77% to settle at 3.348 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 3.02% to 58.030 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 480 to 240 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.69% or 1.220 to 46.545.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.24% to 26.92.

Gold for April delivery was up 0.46% or 5.70 to $1232.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.01% or 1.32 to hit $31.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.00% or 1.37 to trade at $32.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1130, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7767.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 96.66.
