Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 1.59% or 1.80 points to trade at 115.05 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.33% or 0.17 points to end at 12.93 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.82% or 0.23 points to 27.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.31% or 1.57 points to trade at 66.53 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.46% or 0.38 points to end at 25.61 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.27% or 0.740 points to 57.680.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 81 to 69 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.25 to $1254.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.22% or 0.62 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.46 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1024, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.9026.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 97.89.
