Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 9.89% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.45 at the close. Elite Matl (TW:2383) added 8.08% or 5.90 points to end at 78.90 and Rechi (TW:4532) was up 7.69% or 2.15 points to 30.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which lost 5.15% or 0.75 points to trade at 13.80 in late trade. Avc (TW:3017) declined 4.22% or 1.15 points to end at 26.10 and Test Research (TW:3030) shed 4.16% or 1.75 points to 40.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 508 to 238 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 4.07% or 1.61 to $41.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.85% or 1.61 to hit $43.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.59% or 8.15 to trade at $1364.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 31.681, while TWD/CNY fell 0.95% to 0.2083.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.51.
