Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 4.87% or 0.0110 points to trade at 0.2370 at the close. The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) added 3.84% or 0.1270 points to end at 3.4340 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 3.21% or 0.4100 points to 13.1700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 2.07% or 0.0031 points to trade at 0.1469 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 0.96% or 0.0080 points to end at 0.8280 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) shed 0.16% or 0.0100 points to 6.0870.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 16 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 2.20% or 1.21 to $56.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.97% or 1.04 to hit $53.79 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.96% or 11.45 to trade at $1186.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.0678, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8489.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 100.58.
