Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.14% to hit a new 52-week low, while the MDAX index fell 0.90%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.16%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 2.37% or 0.169 points to trade at 7.295 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) added 2.14% or 0.770 points to end at 36.755 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.13% or 2.150 points to 103.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which fell 3.91% or 3.030 points to trade at 74.450 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 3.84% or 0.595 points to end at 14.890 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 3.37% or 1.910 points to 54.830.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which rose 5.43% to 13.100, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 4.49% to settle at 31.205 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 3.26% to close at 42.81.
The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 3.96% to 71.000 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which lost 3.41% to settle at 29.870 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which was down 3.36% to 26.89 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.99% to 3.282, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 2.38% to settle at 44.180 and Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which gained 2.34% to close at 3.320.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 8.32% to 42.630 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 6.64% to settle at 38.610 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 5.30% to 25.275 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 429 to 253 and 34 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.29% to 28.30.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1158.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.15% or 0.36 to hit $31.36 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.22 to trade at $34.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7700.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 97.09.
