Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.25% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.91%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 2.14% or 2.55 points to trade at 121.60 at the close. Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) added 2.09% or 2.65 points to end at 129.50 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 1.99% or 3.45 points to 176.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 0.56% or 0.053 points to trade at 9.354 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.27% or 0.050 points to end at 18.160 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 0.13% or 0.020 points to 15.590.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 2.62% to 72.180, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was up 2.59% to settle at 68.170 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 2.52% to close at 75.280.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 1.44% to 71.750 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 0.94% to settle at 33.795 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 0.53% to 35.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 6.35% to 11.800, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 3.49% to settle at 13.764 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 2.06% to close at 55.110.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 4.04% to 30.515 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.78% to settle at 12.705 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 1.64% to 91.080 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 261 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.31% to 12.04 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.70% or 8.81 to $1275.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.43% or 0.69 to hit $47.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.66 to trade at $49.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1271, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8749.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 96.70.
