Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.73% or 0.840 points to trade at 49.340 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.89% or 0.55 points to end at 62.46 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 0.77% or 0.35 points to 46.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 2.04% or 0.075 points to trade at 3.605 in late trade. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 1.50% or 0.40 points to end at 26.22 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.36% or 0.076 points to 5.509.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 91 to 67 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.47% to 16.29.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.11% or 0.05 to $44.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.64% or 0.78 to hit $46.85 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.58% or 20.95 to trade at $1347.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8368.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.87% at 94.91.
