Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Electricity and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.84% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.20 at the close. Phytohealth (TW:4108) added 9.93% or 2.90 points to end at 32.10 and Lu Hai (TW:2115) was up 9.90% or 5.80 points to 64.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aoc (TW:6289), which lost 7.26% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.150 in late trade. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) declined 5.35% or 1.15 points to end at 20.35 and Eclat Textile (TW:1476) shed 4.29% or 16.50 points to 368.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 487 to 241 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.51% or 0.23 to $45.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.49% or 0.23 to hit $47.49 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.14% or 1.95 to trade at $1355.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.63% to 31.218, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2141.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 94.74.
