Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemicals, Basic Materials and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 7.00% or 1.22 points to trade at 18.65 at the close. mBank (WA:MBK) added 2.86% or 9.25 points to end at 333.00 and Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) was up 1.35% or 0.70 points to 52.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which lost 4.31% or 262.00 points to trade at 5818.00 in late trade. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) declined 2.86% or 2.66 points to end at 90.49 and Energa SA (WA:ENGP) shed 2.15% or 0.27 points to 12.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 300 to 221 and 178 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.97% or 0.86 to $42.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.20% or 0.54 to hit $44.53 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.90% or 11.10 to trade at $1241.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 1.09% to 4.4162, while USD/PLN rose 0.69% to 3.9188.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 94.73.
