Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; IPC down 1.87%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 1.87%.

The best performers of the session on the IPC were Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which rose 4.69% or 0.650 points to trade at 14.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Controladora Comercial Mexicana UBC (MX:COMEUBC) added 2.59% or 0.810 points to end at 32.160 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) was up 0.94% or 0.170 points to 18.210 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which fell 3.75% or 14.210 points to trade at 364.830 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) declined 3.45% or 1.150 points to end at 32.200 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was down 2.96% or 2.810 points to 92.180.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 97 to 44 and 2 ended unchanged.

Shares in Controladora Comercial Mexicana UBC (MX:COMEUBC) rose to 3-years lows; gaining 2.59% or 0.810 to 32.160.

Gold for February delivery was up 1.31% or 13.90 to $1074.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.77% or 0.28 to hit $36.76 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $37.28 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.78% to 17.3306, while EUR/MXN rose 0.42% to 18.7705.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 98.94.
