Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.61% or 0.21 points to trade at 13.59 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.95% or 0.700 points to end at 74.080 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.79% or 0.46 points to 59.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 2.27% or 1.07 points to trade at 46.23 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.67% or 0.72 points to end at 42.67 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 1.63% or 0.98 points to 58.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 53 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 5.27 to $1267.37 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.40% or 1.19 to hit $48.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.45% or 1.28 to trade at $50.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1232, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8711.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 96.95.
