Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Software sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.21%, while the MDAX index declined 0.20%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.81%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.95% or 0.660 points to trade at 17.360 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 3.22% or 0.655 points to end at 20.970 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.16% or 2.800 points to 132.250 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which lost 4.34% or 7.550 points to trade at 166.450 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.69% or 0.158 points to end at 9.196 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) shed 1.33% or 1.400 points to 104.250.

The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 5.03% to 84.010, Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was up 2.94% to settle at 30.660 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 2.39% to close at 9.25.

The worst performers were Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which was down 4.41% to 55.828 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 4.27% to settle at 47.59 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 3.76% to 99.850 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 3.22% to 9.589, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.26% to settle at 9.050 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.75% to close at 31.905.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 6.53% to 4.511 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 5.32% to settle at 16.900 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 3.91% to 9.004 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 485 to 389 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.00% to 19.08.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.33% or 16.60 to $1267.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.64% or 0.29 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.35 to trade at $47.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1333, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7768.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 93.89.
