Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Auto and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which rose 8.11% or 0.15 points to trade at 2.00 at the close. Tainan Enter (TW:1473) added 6.30% or 2.25 points to end at 37.95 and Htc Corp (TW:2498) was up 5.14% or 4.20 points to 85.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.78% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.03 in late trade. Via Tech (TW:2388) declined 8.39% or 1.30 points to end at 14.20 and Advanced Power (TW:8261) shed 7.16% or 1.75 points to 22.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 659 to 125 and 69 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.17% or 0.92 to $41.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.09% or 0.92 to hit $43.11 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.30% or 3.80 to trade at $1250.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 32.232, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.05.
