Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Hotels and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chenming Mold (TW:3013), which rose 9.97% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.40 at the close. Ruentex Materials Co Ltd (TW:8463) added 9.94% or 1.80 points to end at 19.90 and Chia Her Industrial (TW:1449) was up 9.86% or 0.50 points to 5.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which lost 9.13% or 12.00 points to trade at 119.50 in late trade. Maxtek Tech (TW:3315) declined 6.69% or 1.20 points to end at 16.75 and Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) shed 6.06% or 2.00 points to 31.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 467 to 304 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.34% or 0.16 to $47.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.26% or 0.13 to hit $50.69 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.39% or 4.85 to trade at $1242.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 30.448, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2259.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 99.78.
