Global High Income Fund, Inc. is a closed-ended fixed income mutual fund launched and managed by UBS Global Asset Management (Americas) Inc. The fund invests in the fixed income markets of emerging market countries across the globe. It primarily invests in debt securities such as sovereign debt, interests in issuers organized and operating for the purpose of securitizing or restructuring the investment characteristics of sovereign debt, and also the debt securities issued by banks or other businesses denominated in or indexed to the currencies of emerging market countries. The fund employs both fundamental and quantitative analysis with a focus on such factors as the nature and duration of restrictions on disposition of investments, evaluation of forces which influence the market in which the investments are purchased and sold, and fair value determination to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the J.P. Morgan Emerging Markets Bond Index Global and the Global High Income Fund Index which comprises of 50% J.P. Morgan Emerging Markets Bond Index Global and 50% J.P. Morgan Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets Global Diversified Index. The fund was formerly known as Global High Income Dollar Fund, Inc. Global High Income Fund, Inc. was formed on February 23, 1993 and is domiciled in the United States.
